Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Vis 35, also known as Pistolet wz. 35 Vis in Polish, 9 mm Pistole 35(p) in German or Radom in English sources, is a semi-automatic, single-action pistol that uses 9×19mm caliber rounds. The inspiration for its design came from the Colt 1911 pistol, which was designed by John Moses Browning, an American.

Vis production began in 1935 at the Fabryka Broni factory in Radom, Poland. The following year, it became the standard handgun of the Polish Army. After the Polish defeat in 1939, the Germans took over the Radom Armory and continued production of the Vis under the new name of 9mm Pistole 645(p). For some reason, it was often referred to as P35(p) as the "p" suffix meant "polnisch" (Polish). The German pistols of the first series had inscriptions VIS Mod.35 and P.35(p) on the left side. Between 312,000 and 380,000 were produced until 1945 and used by the German paratroopers and military police. After the invasion of Poland in 1939, the Germans recognized the value of the pistol and eventually issued it to their paratroopers. Today, firearm collectors highly seek the Vis.
