Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
(The story of this firearm)
P.F.C . Davin and another soldier were entering a town and were told that Germans were still scattered around and to stay close to each other. At one point they heard men coming and ran into the basement of an old building and went to a dark back wall area to hide but were able to see through a sidewalk level transit type of window. Shortly thereafter, a group of Germans passed close by in ranks of one or two at a time. After what seemed to be a long time, a single German stopped, bent down and looked into the window and saw them. The only thing that they could do was shoot. After several minutes went by, another German came to check on the dead german soldier. This German soldier had a red cross band on his jacket pulled up and on his side was this V.I.S 35 pistol and holster. After he checked the dead german he looked at the glass from where the shot had come from and seeing the Americans, and he went for the pistol. The Americans fired and hit the soldier which killed him. THey waited for a lengthy period of time and then came out. They retrieved this pistol and holster from the deceased German soldier.

Vis (Polish designation pistolet wz. 35 Vis, German designation 9 mm Pistole 35(p), or simply the Radom in English sources) is a 9mm Parabellum caliber, semi-automatic pistol. It's design was inspired by American firearms inventor John Browning's 9mm Browning Hi-Power pistol which was completed after Browning's death by designers at Fabrique Nationale in Herstal, Belgium. Production of the Vis began at the Fabryka Broni arms factory in Radom in 1935, and was adopted as the standard issue handgun of the Polish Army the following year. The pistol was also valued by the Germans during WWII and towards the end of the war it was issued to the German paratroopers.
