Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Revolutionizing the polymer-frame defensive handgun market upon its U.S. debut, the Springfield Armory XD (Extreme Duty) series earned widespread acclaim for combining rock-solid ergonomics with multi-tiered safety engineering. Originally developed in Croatia by HS Produkt, the XD Service Model features a full-sized grip frame paired with a 4-inch barrel, delivering optimal balance for home defense, open carry, and tactical use. Built with a passive rear grip safety, Springfield's USA (Ultra Safety Assurance) blade trigger, a striker status indicator, and a loaded chamber indicator, the XD-40 provides maximum intuitive safety and operation under stress. Chambered in the hard-hitting .40 S&W cartridge, the XD-40 Service Model remains a benchmark of rugged reliability and duty-proven performance.
