Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Produced at the famed Zavodi Crvena Zastava armory in Kragujevac, Yugoslavia, the Zastava M57 family represents a refined Yugoslav military adaptation of the iconic Soviet TT-33 Tokarev design. Utilizing a heavy-duty all-steel forged frame, short-recoil Browning-style tilting barrel locking system, and a modular self-contained fire control assembly, the Zastava Tokarev platform earned a stellar reputation across Eastern Europe for rugged durability, ease of field maintenance, and legendary reliability. Chambered in widely available 9mm Luger (stamped 9mm PARA), this military-grade sidearm incorporates an extended grip frame for improved shooter control, serrated slide panels, and textured polymer grip scales bearing the signature Zastava concentric logo.
This specific example is a clean Yugoslavian-manufactured Zastava Tokarev pattern pistol chambered in 9mm Luger, bearing matching serial number 33874 stamped on both the slide and frame. Outfitted in classic duty trim, it features a 4.5-inch barrel, factory blued finish, dovetailed rear notch sight, serrated single-action hammer, lanyard loop attachment, and grooved black polymer grips. The factory blued metal surfaces present in well-preserved condition throughout, displaying crisp roll-marks, clear Yugoslavian factory markings, and honest light high-edge wear from handling. Mechanically, the single-action system operates smoothly, slide cycling is crisp, and the 4.5-inch barrel bore displays strong rifling throughout. Seated with a single-stack steel magazine, this Zastava offers exceptional Cold War military surplus appeal for shooter and collector alike.
