The Zbrojovka Brno 98/22 is a highly collectible Czechoslovak bolt-action military rifle based on the legendary Mauser 98 design, produced by Zbrojovka Brno during the 1920s. Chambered primarily in 7.92×57mm Mauser (8mm Mauser), the 98/22 was manufactured using German machinery and Mauser production techniques acquired after World War I, resulting in a rifle renowned for its exceptional machining quality and smooth action. Featuring a full-length Mauser receiver, dual locking lugs, controlled-round-feed action, and a five-round internal magazine loaded via stripper clips, the rifle quickly earned a reputation for outstanding reliability and durability. Although it served only briefly as Czechoslovakia's standard service rifle before being replaced by the shorter Vz. 24, large numbers were exported to nations including Turkey, Iran, and China, where they remained in military service for decades. Original examples retaining Czech markings, matching serial numbers, and military configuration are especially prized by collectors due to their historical significance and close connection to the classic Gewehr 98 design.
