Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Introduced in 1904, the Colt Officers Model Target reigned for decades as the premier match-grade target revolver in American competitive shooting, dominating National Match and Camp Perry tournaments throughout the early 20th century. Built on Colt's medium .41-caliber "E" frame (the same revered platform that would later father the Python), each Officers Model was hand-fitted and tuned by Colt's master target gunsmiths to deliver peerless mechanical precision and an exceptionally crisp, smooth trigger pull. Featuring fully adjustable target sights and a dedicated match barrel, pre-WWI examples finished in Colt's brilliant mirror-like charcoal blue are widely considered by collectors to represent the apex of early Connecticut craftsmanship.
This specific example is an authentic 1912-production Second Issue Colt Officers Model Target chambered in .38 Special, bearing serial number 349614. Equipped with a long-sight-radius 7.5-inch target barrel, it features a screw-adjustable bead/blade front sight, a windage-adjustable rear notch, a knurled cylinder latch, a fire-blued trigger, and original checkered walnut stocks inset with silver Rampant Colt medallions. The high-polish factory blued finish shows attractive, honest vintage wear throughout, with rich mirror luster on the frame flats, gentle holster thinning at the muzzle and high edges, and crisp, untouched factory roll marks. Mechanically, the hand-tuned double-action pull is glass-smooth, the single-action breaks clean and feather-light with zero perceptible creep, cylinder timing and lockup are bank-vault tight, and the 7.5-inch bore is bright with strong, well-defined rifling throughout.
