The CZ Vzor 70 (CZ 70) is a compact Cold War–era semi-automatic pistol that represents a refined continuation of Czechoslovakia’s postwar service handgun development, combining simple blowback operation with improved ergonomics and safety features over its predecessor, the Vz. 50. Manufactured by Ceská zbrojovka Uherský Brod, the Vz. 70 was intended primarily for police and security forces and reflects a practical design philosophy centered on durability, ease of maintenance, and reliable function with minimal mechanical complexity. Chambered in 7.65×17mm Browning (.32 ACP), the pistol uses a fixed barrel and straight-blowback system, which not only simplifies the internal mechanism but also contributes to respectable inherent accuracy for a handgun of its size. The design incorporates a double-action/single-action trigger system with an exposed hammer, allowing for a long, deliberate first trigger pull followed by lighter subsequent shots, and it includes a slide-mounted safety/decocker that permits safe lowering of the hammer on a loaded chamber.
