The CZ Vz. 70 is a compact double-action/single-action semi-automatic pistol developed in Czechoslovakia as an improved successor to the earlier Vz. 50, designed primarily for police, security, and concealed carry use within Eastern Bloc service environments. Produced by Ceská zbrojovka Uherský Brod, the Vz. 70 (often called the CZ 70 in commercial contexts) retains the general blowback-operated architecture of its predecessor but incorporates several refinements aimed at better ergonomics, improved reliability, and safer handling. Chambered in 7.65×17mm Browning (.32 ACP), the pistol uses a fixed-barrel, straight blowback system with a relatively simple internal mechanism that prioritizes ease of maintenance and durability over high power. One of the key improvements over the Vz. 50 is the redesigned grip frame, which offers more pronounced checkering and a slightly reshaped profile to enhance control, especially given the cartridge's lightweight recoil.
