The Smith & Wesson Pre-Model 11 is a historically important revolver produced before Smith & Wesson began assigning official model numbers in 1957. The Pre-Model 11 designation refers to the earlier .38/200 Military & Police revolvers that would later become the Model 11, built on Smith & Wesson’s famous K-frame platform. These revolvers were primarily chambered in .38 S&W and were heavily associated with British military service, especially during World War II, where large numbers were produced for Allied use under the British Service Revolver contract. Featuring Smith & Wesson’s traditional hand-fitted craftsmanship, these revolvers commonly included features such as five-screw frames, pinned barrels, forged internal parts, fixed sights, and classic blue or nickel finishes, representing the quality of Smith & Wesson revolver production before later manufacturing changes.
