Originally conceived by the renowned firearms designer John Moses Browning and completed after his death by Dieudonné Saive at Fabrique Nationale Herstal, the Hi-Power was introduced in 1935 as the P-35, with the "35" referring to its year of adoption. Chambered primarily in 9×19mm Parabellum, the pistol was revolutionary for its era due to its double-stack magazine design, which provided a then-unprecedented 13-round capacity, significantly exceeding the ammunition capacity of most competing service pistols of the time.
